Painting horses weekend Feb 10-12 at Twincreeks

Well, the time is here again for another fun weekend at Twincreeks. Last years workshop was a huge success and so we planned another one, for two nights this time!

So, get your calendars out and book the weekend. Two nights accommodation, excellent meals, acrylic art workshop and if you want to bring your horse - board is included too! You can have a well deserved weekend away, learn new skills, spend time with great folks AND leave with an original painting done by you! What could be better!

There are only 6 spots available, so book soon. You can pay online at the Broody Rooster Gallery but check on availability with a quick email first.

Hope to see you there!

Agility at Twincreeks

This weekend I was asked to travel down to Twincreeks to take photos of the Agility clinic with Adiva Murphy. The fall weather held for the participants and I was able to capture some great shots of folks. This activity looks like it has great promise for the horse world based on the smiles from those involved. Another score Deb, and great work Adiva!

A+ to my students

This past weekend I spent down at one of my favorite places, Twincreeks Bed, Bale and Breakfast in Duncan. Deborah Flinn and I partnered up to offer a Painting Horses weekend where folks could bring their horse and their paints for a weekend of fun.

I had Jackie, Bonnie and Launie take part in the workshop - all of them did fantastic work and completed not just one entire painting, but two! I was quite impressed with their efforts - they just didn't put the brushes down! See the photos here of their work. I had a tough time keeping up with them!

This sort of getaway works well - bring your horse, get fed deluxe food, socialize, learn and leave with some great artwork, of your own creation for your walls at home. Deborah and I will likely plan another one and make it three days to allow more time for some riding too - so if you are interested, let me know and we will keep you in the loop on the next one.

Cowgirl getaway

Last Thursday I took four girlfriends down to Twincreeks in Duncan for a cowgirl getaway. We slept in the Bed Bale and Breakfast, hung out in the hot tub, drank our favorite beverages and ate loads of food while we chatted all things horsey. Of course, we got horse time in too - I took some time to drive Magnum and used the access to the ring and trails to get Nino and Simba out as well. The weekend was great - so close to home but when you are there, you just feel so far away. It is super peaceful and relaxing. Some of the gals did some natural horsemanship sessions with Deb and they were super pleased with the outcomes. The idea was to have folks learn how to paint as well, but we just tried to cram too much in - we needed another couple of days! For some reason, the massages that Angela Morgan was doing was more popular - go figure!

The weekend was then the second competitive trail ride at the same venue, so it finished with a bang. 27 miles on the boys and they did incredibly well again. Next one is in 100 Mile House in mid August so I have some time for summer before then...

Being around so many horses was a great opportunity to have the camera active. I was happy with the lighting and got a number of great shots to share with the gals and add to my inventory. See a few here and enjoy.

And if you haven't been to Deb's for a cowgirl getaway, think about booking it soon - you won't be disappointed.

Next couple of weeks I have a few private photo shoots to prepare for and I was finally accepted on the Yellowpoint Cedar Artisan Tour for the Christmas season, so I have to start preparing the Cottage and Gallery for that as well. The day job seems far away right now...
